Codename Android Kernel:

This is the kernel that is built and included in the codename android ROM located here.
Per user requests I have created a thread to post releases of incremental builds of the kernel we make for the ROM. This also moves the kernel conversation to this thread (about this kernel) instead of the ROM thread.

For those of you that are confused because my name is Blueharford and not Codenameandroid... I am the kernel dev for the codename android mod, codenameandroid is the dev for the rom. If you have any questions regarding the connection... PM me..

Current version: 1.8.1

kernel base is built off of 4.0.3 kernel source code.

Starting base Savaged-Zen Kernel Please refer to that thread for base specs

Source code:

* Wipe Dalvik Cache
* Flash Kernel

Is 1.3.0 different than the 1.0.2+ that is included with CNA rom? I am assuming it is, guess I am just curious as to what the + is for.

Im just about to flash the latest codename rom and Im wondering is it recommended to use this kernel while on Codename or does it not matter if I were to use the minimalistic kernel? Basically, are there any advantages to using this kernel while on codename?

Thanks

Its personal preference. This kernel is meant to be built around CNA, so in theory it should have the best performance for the Rom.

No harm in flashing it and see what you like best.

Does this version use the same kernel developer as 1.2.0? That was a great match. I tried four of the most popular kernels and your custom kernel indeed out performed them with your rom.

in future releases of codename yes. Codename kernel and rom will be built to work best with each other, in the future there will be extras in the rom that will only work with the codename kernel

I'm confused. Your not codename. Did you create the kernel for 1.2.0?
Are you part of his team since your using codename for the name of your kernel? When I saw "Codename" followed by a number rating higher than his last rom, I assumed it was a rom.

It clearly states kernel, but I didn't see that, because I wasn't expecting it. The fact that your name is different, made me think twice.

Please read the OP, and the codename rom OP. I am the kernel dev for the codename android (mod). which means any codename kernel made since it has been released was created by me. No i am not codename, i work with him... he does the rom work, i do the kernel work. This kernel is made for codename android rom, but the users of his rom has requested in his thread that i release update inbetween rom releases if there is any, for this i created a new thread just for the kernel. which will always be included in his rom. we work together on the codename andorid mod.

look at this post http://rootzwiki.com/topic/14735-romaosp403-codename-android-120-fully-open-source012412/page__view__findpost__p__369688 in changelog the last bullet... thats my name next to kernel dev.

im not sure whats not clear?

Hew! I was thinking someone pulled a fast one. You did great work. Now, you just complicated my kernel study.

From yesterdays test of CND 1.2.0 and the custom kernel that you made, I almost had 4hrs of display time at 35% out of 11hrs. For me that was a great ratio. By the way, I'm testing on 1850 stock battery. I also had 4g,, wifi, and bluetooth running the entire time.

If you guys produce 4hrs of onscreen time out of a solid 12 or more hours off my usage, I may propose.:D

Does this kernel have a hot plug feature like imo's interactiveX governor? I'm running imo's 1.8 w/ great battery life and smoothness. Would be awesome if the cna kernel can match that.
Thanks for the great work.

Holy smokes that's good! What govenor are you using? Any other mods or tweaks to get you there? The best I have ever gotten is 2 1/2 hours on screen with 12-16 hrs standby, Wifi, no bluetooth gps brightness down, CNA 1.2 with interactivex
