With Android 5.0 Lollipop heading out to Nexus devices next month, Google has now made available the final SDK and APIs that you will need to test your apps. The new API level for Android 5.0 is 21, and Google Play is now accepting APKs set to that version, so you can upload any updated versions of your apps today. Google is also making an updated Android 5.0 preview system image for the Nexus 5 and 2013 Nexus 7 available for testing. These are non-final builds, and an official final system image will be available in the near future.

The New APIs (over 5000 of them) include libraries for material design animations , widgets, and elements. This also provides a way to prepare your apps for Android TV. You won't need to build a separate version of of your app to put it on the TV, just build in some optimizations and you're good to go. Google has listed some tips for optimal TV app quality, and Google Play for Android TV will open for apps on November 3rd.

If you're a developer there's nothing holding you back, install the latest packages in your SDK Manager and you're ready to go. If you've been using the developer preview there's even an API differences reportfor you to look over and see what has been updated.
