APEX and NOVA Launcher mods (UPDATED 6/10/12)

Apply In:: Stock Recovery

Source::
Here is the start of a Apex and Nova Launcher Mod post. This will only contained the "Free" versions of each Launcher.

INSTRUCTIONS:
1. DL file and install via file manager.
2. If it will not overwrite other version then uninstall previous version by going to "settings/apps".
3. Select your old app and hit the "Clear Cache" button, then hit "Uninstall".
4. If its "Nova Launcher" and it was part of the Rom install then uninstall from "Titanium Backup".
5. Boot into "Recovery" and "Clear Cache" and Clear Dalvik Cache"
6. Reboot Phone. DO NOT INSTALL NEW LAUNCHER YET.
7. After phone boots back up, reboot into "Recovery" again.
8. Install the New modded Launcher and Reboot.
9. After phone boots back up, hit the "Home" button and choose new Launcher.

WARNING!!!! I am not responsible for anything BAD that happens to your phone, but if something GOOD does come out of my work then I am responsible for that.

INSTRUCTIONS:
1. "Apex Settings / Folder Settings / Folder Background / Custom"
2. Then choose your image.

Jackstraw, this looks exactly like the final piece that will make my Nexus complete! You are, as they say, the man!!!

Will this work with the 100% transparent stock mod that I used for AOKP build 27? I'm running Crossbreed version 6 at the moment.

Just one question: when rebooting into recovery the second time, how do I install apex since it's an .apk and not a zip file?

This is a nice mod. Unfortunately doesn't work with Crossbreed using the 100% transparent navbar.

Maybe I'm flashing it wrong. . .I get the half-black bar of death.

I uninstalled all apex and nova launchers by wiping their data and deleting them from /system/apps. I rebooted, wiped cache, dalvik, rebooted. I then installed your Apex .apk using root explorer, placing it within /system/apps. I then rebooted. Then I rebooted into recovery and flashed the 100% transparent navbar you created for AOKP M4. That's when I get the half-black bar of death.

Im having a little trouble understanding this mod because Apex has an option to remove the shadows in settings. Am I missing something else?

no this mod had a short life span. the new apex has this option so this thread may get deleted real soon.

Okay, I will try it. In the process of flashing Crossbreed version 8, then the transparent navbar will be next.

Success!! Thanks, Jack. I am able to use the stock Apex launcher, now that the shadows have been disabled if one so chooses. But your transparent navbar is my favorite mod by far!
