Hmm, this is sideways...

Edit: Wait, it seems to be squished. Trying Galaxa, seems squished. Kernel imoseyons, if that matters. From reading through the thread, it seem the resolution is off, because of the black bars. These are great, I wish I could donate.
Sorry about that:

Would you be able to slow this one down or add more systems to check? Just so that it doesn't repeat while booting.

Edit:

The umbrella v2 one has black bars on the top and bottom and the resolution seems kind of off.

Unfortunately I was not the producer of the Android SciFi boot.. I can make some modifications but only to slow it down..

The resolution for the Umbrella Corp has to be set that way or the image will be stretched to the top and bottom.

The sci fi one also has the black bars. And yea slowing it down is all it really needs.

I DL , renamed and put in data/local and it was not working on galaxy nexus 4.3 running axiom. If someone could assist I would appreciate it.

thanks in advance
The bootanimation.zip file must be extracted from the install file (unzip and look in the system/media folder) - then the bootanimation.zip file can be copied to the data/local or system/media folder.

There is a known issue with 4.0.3 ROMs with not being able to play some bootanimation.zip files. Have been trying to work out why..

What I am finding is that there is something in the install script (or hidden in the structure of the zip install file) that I have been using that is making the boots not work properly.. Hopes are that some tests in the next few days will be successful.

Thank you for your patience and efforts to find a work-a-round. - or:

- I may only offer the boot animations in "bootanimation.zip" format and users will need to place in the folder of their preference.

I pulled it down and all I did was swap out the bootanimation.zip file... put in this purple tester:

The bootanimation.zip file contains jpg not png files.. if this installs then the mounts are different for the the 4.0.3 ROM and the installer must be rescripted..... If it does not play it may be due to the ROM/Kernel not being able to play jpgs in preference for pngs.. This tester will install to data/local.

Tester Download - for any willing volunteers.

Flashed it throught CWM Touch Beta. Worked fine!
Thank you DJTaurus!.. This confirms that the mounts are different for that ROM... Whew!

I can start a migration of the boots to that installer.. It may take me a few days to get them all compiled, uploaded and links applied.

Thanks again!

I wanted to just chime in here and say that I've been able to flash a number of the boot animation zip files posted in this thread using the CWM touch beta (vibrate test) with no problems, but I'm on the deodexed 4.0.2 ROM right now, so as you've surmised, it appears that the issue is with the ROM DJTaurus is running and not the CWM Touch Beta.
It has to do with the memory mounts that the 4.0.3 ROM requires. On the 4.0.2 and earlier ROMs I could use the run_program("/sbin/busybox", "mount", "/system"); command and on this ROM I have to use the: mount("ext4", "EMMC", "/dev/block/platform/omap/omap_hsmmc.0/by-name/data", "/data"); command..

I am operating with testers and sample scripts to ensure that the bootanimation.zip file gets installed to the correct directory. I am guessing that since the mount was not correct it installed the file but I cannot be certain how/where it was placed on the phone.

Updated OP with 4.0.3 flashable links.

How difficult or easy is it to make a boot animation? I don't suppose you could make a tutorial specific for the Galaxy Nexus could you?

Props to you for all your work, btw. This stuff is really amazing.
Not very difficult to produce once you have a good handle on all the variables that can cause issues.. (there can be a few)

This may give you an idea how it comes together: I wrote a tutorial (basic) for Creating Boot Animations for Android Based Systems about 6 months ago. I edited it to incorporate the Galaxy Nexus resolution.

how about a flashable version of the gnex stock animation? I believe the stock ones you have posted are from the previous nexus phone, unless they've changed recently.
If this is the boot you are referring to there are at least 5 different options:

Stock Boot Animation (CWM Flash) -> StockBoot Link - Updated link.

Here is a link to a HD version of the: StockBoot in HD - || Download - 4.0.3 ROM
jpg file format ~> took the liberty to convert the images to jpgs (saves file size) - Files do not have to be pngs to play - retained 720x1280 resolution.
Download - system/media install
Download - data/local install

The warp vortex one from the first post also appears to be squished just like the Galaxus one was. Could this also be fixed? I'd love to use it.

Thanks!!!

There may be an issue with the resolution of those images - they are 160x320... small. I reformatted them here is a tester - link

I am in search of a better source of images for this boot.. my last one is currently corrupted.

Edit update: complete revision and edit - This may work Tester #2 - Link..

Flashed this one and the only thing that shows is the words over and over in portrait on 4.0.3 is it a problem with the file or is it just me?
Hmmmm... I was referred to that file and all I did was repack it .. for zip installs.. let me tear it apart and see what is astray.

I revised the file naming system and repacked them

Download - 4.0.3 ROM
Download

These are dropbox links until I can get back to my main development computer - Hope these work better.. if not I will have to convert the images to a workable format when I get home.
