I wonder if someone could help me with this? I have all my images and am trying to get them into a APK to install on the phone. But I also was wondering if you can just make the theme in a zip like most other themes?

Are you trying to make a theme for the theme engine? If so, I've talked to many many people who tried devompilong one and modifying it. You need to build it from source alongside aosp or cm7 I believe....

Yes for the theme engine. Not built one from source so I may need to do some learning.

If your trying to do one for the Theme Engine then just decompile TemplateBread (http://bit.ly/hdEWsf) like any other APK and modify it.
Here is an extremely good guide: http://goo.gl/6kWX9 (Yeah, I know most of us dont like the site but the guide is good)

If your trying to make a theme for the CM7 Theme Manager yes. It is universal.
