Ok guys, been working hard on a device tree for CM on the Galaxy Tab 2. Some people want to throw in some help so I thought I'd throw this out there to see where we are all at. Few notes first.

Disclaimer: RootzWiki, CyanogenMod, nor I are responsible for anything that happens to your device or data as a result of flashing this ROM. You have already voided your warranty by rooting the device. Please take caution and if you are unsure about anything do not flash this.

Second Note: I am not affiliated with CyanogenMod in any way, I am not part of the team nor have been tasked with creating a device tree for this tab. It's just what source I have chosen to build on. Please do not complain to the CyanogenMod team about any bugs, problems, etc with this build as they did not build it.

What's not working:
--Flash inop
--Bluetooth Bluetooth actually works for connecting and data transfer..will not work for audio as I haven't gotten there yet.
--Chrome Beta not working yet

There are more but those are the bigger bugs that I plan on tackling first. Please let me remind you again, this is not what I would even call Alpha, if you want to play...then play. If you want to help...then help. If any of the bugs I listed are deal breakers then don't flash.

Quit playing with it and battery life goes up..lol jk It'll get better. I hesitate getting knee deep into the kernel source since I keep hearing Samsung is going to re-release the source. Then I'll dive further. Just trying to get all the components working for right now.

Im actually using a source built kernel in this. Waiting to see if Samsung rereleases something that works better before committing too much time into it.

Where, how, and to whom can I donate for providing me with this awesomeness?
Is there a way I can add GPS on/off to the settings/notifications bar?
Is there a way I can add screen indication or can someone suggest a good launcher? I usually prefer the stock ICS launcher or ADW but I don't care for the way ADW stretches over tablet screens.

Really like this Rom.
For me,
I find that to charge the battery the tablet needs to be on and the screen completely off (not in dim mode)
Also if the tablet is off and you try to charge it the charging GIF. is broken.
Did I mention I like this rom really. ..?.Thank You.....

I'm generally pretty helpful but some things are very low on my priority list. the kernel will only work on aosp (before today) and packaging it so it can be used on another rom just doesnt rank so high.

Plus on my latest builds Im not even using anywhere near the same kernel as that release since we have proper kernel sources now.

Also snce we have proper kernel sources i suspect there will be some kernel devs jumping in the mix very shortly that will cater to your needs better.

if that version of the OC kernel wouldve worked on touchwiz it wouldve ranked a bit higher. sorry for the wait but itll be out when its ready.

Actually also if you would like to run aokp then tell the dev there to make an overclock kernel..lol its actually more straightforward that way.

New build hopefully coming some time tomorrow. Made a little bit of progress.

Mic is now working, need to fix the resampler though so everyone doesnt sound a couple ocataves lower. fixed some stuff with the display setup. Hopefully will have bt audio and mic working as well. Next up is to fix mtp/ptp.

Are you getting any inkling that the Tab 2 will be a CM officially-supported device anytime soon?

Lots of stuff to fix still, so long way to go before I would approach anyone about it just yet.

So, how do I actually install it on the device? I can boot into "ODIN MODE" by holding volume down & power. How do I get the zip file I downloaded over there? Thanks.

This needs to be installed in Clockwork Recovery and not through ODIN. If you don't have Clockwork installed yet, find the guides for that then install and enjoy.

OK another update on progress. Fixed mic so now fully working for chat, voice commands, and camcorder. Fixed audio levels on speaker / headphones to match stock gains. Fixed off-mode charging animation. Still working on mtp/ptp and voodoo sound (at the same time..lol) Once I get these two things working I'll whip up a new build.

Hey, xoom, do you think it will be feasible to do a couple things with the external SD card, such as...

• Trick ICS into using it, perhaps by making the internal mnt/sdcard a symlink?
• Allow the external SD card to be formatted as EXT4? I'm assuming internal storage is already formatted EXT4.
• Support for greater than a 32GB card?

The only problem with this is that if you dont have an sdcard then things get funky.

thanks for the feedback.

i havent really gone into the settings much so i wouldnt know these things without you guys.

as for the am/pm text...there are some display layout issues yet..this isnt the only one..still looking into this.

as for the storage..need to look at this it should be workimg so ill figure out a fix.

as for the orientation. since its a tablet setup landscape is the default orientation for the launcher.

Custom brightness levels doesn't work at all. Level readings at -1 etc.

You're right...I use max brightness so I keep forgetting about this. Ah, next release.

Hey guys, just remember, this still isn't even what I would call alpha, even though I run it everyday. And if someone is wondering why Chrome Beta still isn't working I forgot to add the ro.chrome.beta_support=1 to the build.prop. SO if you want to use it just add that.

I wish stuff was that easy to fix, I don't really have anyone helping me so I am kind of slow. Yesterday I spend about 13 hours debugging and tweaking the mic. Today I spent about that on various other things. Don't expect the bigger things like hw accel to happen overnight...there are no magical lib swaps here.

ya the loud hum on camcorder record was because the mic didnt work..lol fixed in build 3 as im sure you noticed.

Working on a new build.

Been working hard on the kernel today getting it updated to 3.0.31. Next version wont be the overclocked kernel by default but ill have a flashable zip made separate.

Also fixed the force close in Storage Settings.
Think I finally landed on the right AAPT config...this screen is lying to itself.
Fixed streaming web content not opening in Video Player where the content types are supported.
symlink /mnt/extCard to /extSdCard for easier access
cleaned up init for unsupported libs so you dont have to see error messages on boot in logcat.
Cleaning up my repos considerably ( i know you dont care about this )

Status of other fixes.

Hw accel - havent spent too much time on this due to other smaller fixes that i could get out and this is going to take some engineering....

Bluetooth Audio/ Capture - I dont have a bt headset to test, so i dunno how Im going to fix this yet.

Google Chrome falls under the hw accel heading as its related.

Flash - Im clueless about this one ATM and havent looked at it yet.

Missing apps in the market. Some apps specifically look for phone permissions as well as other factors like product characteristics and regions. This could be hacky to get working and might have other ramifications. I recommend sideloading for now.

Sorry its taking me so long. I've just been swamped with work. Probably tomorrow night I'll have some time to whip it together. I think the kernel posted in this forum is based off of my kernel here so that might be an option in the meantime.
