I was wondering couldn't the camera, video, and GPS location services be fixed by just using the lib.so's from 4.5.596 or Froyo since its a froyo kernel. Considering apex uses apps compiled from CM7 source and those pieces function, theoretically that should fix those problems correct?

I think it was previously tried on the Beta version with no success. The GPS worked when the file from froyo and that fixed that issue but no go with the camera.

I've seen this linked a few times, but it doesn't really offer any help considering that there is no 'shadow' entry.
The link actually is to the shadow entry
if you scroll down, it says the changes implemented in each nightly for cdma_shadow

How do we get the new Clockwork to actually stick?
what do you mean by 'stick'? are you having issues with booting into CWM at all? I had an issue at first, but after selecting Droid X (2nd init) in rom manager, then flash clockwork 4, i had no issues. plus it is orange

I've downloaded the new CWM from Rom Manager, tried flashing it in ROM and also tried flashing in CWM (old 1) but whenever I reboot to recovery I still get 2.5.0.8

Edit: Whenever I try and flash new CWM from Rom Manager and then reboot to recovery, I get stuck on the M

You are choosing Droid X (2nd-init), right?

I found that I SBFed back and did a fresh install non monster and then CWM worked great. But instead of installing from CW I used the CM7 reboot into recovery and flashed the SU update and then flashed nightly 3 and then did the same thing as above flashing the SU update from CM7 reboot into recovery and flashed the SU file and root was back. so far it is running well.

So you sbf'd back to froyo then?

Yes. When I was running the Beta I did everything to get CWM to take. Nothing worked and it froze at the "M" and I was able to do a battery pull and it would reboot fine. But when I tried to install nightly from CWM it froze and would not let me into anything but the stock recovery. So I decided to SBF back to Froyo and start over fresh. There probably was an easier way but that worked for me.

Once you sbf'd and installing CM7 (which I just finished), what steps did you take to update CMR?
This is what I did. Stolen from another post

It seems like a lot of people are panicking over this and most won't pick through the official thread, so I figured I would put it here for people to see easier.

If you lost root while upgrading to CM7 Nightly 3:

* Download "ROM Manager" from the market and open it
* Select "Download ROM" -> "Extras"
* Download "Superuser 2.3.6.3 efgh"
* Hold down the power button, select "reboot", select "recovery"
* When you are in recovery, choose "install zip from sd card"
* Navigate to clockwork->download->goo-inside.me->superuser and install su-2.3.6.3-efgh-signed.zip
* Now reboot, and you should have root back!

It is no longer dead. Downloading now. Would anyone happen to know if I could just sbf back and flash #4 or would I have to install #1, #2, #3 and then #4?
Should be able to. Each nightly is a full install. I'm about to sbf to froyo and jump right to nightly4. Will most likely break root, and have to fix CWR in Rom Manager, oh and reinstall gApps, but I'll let ya know how it goes.

EDIT: Up and running again. Went right to Nightly4 without a hitch
