Hey guys, im trying to dump my rom from the Repub Wireless XT1049 MotoX prior to testing out some stuff for Hashcode to get safestrap working on it.

I've got my phone rooted using RockMyMoto, rooted for Adb with ADBinsecure (for some reason the root doesnt take for ADB), backed up with holo toolkit, the boot.img manually extracted.

But before i mess with it further, I wanted to dump a whole system image. It seems the preferred method for this is to use ROMDUMP

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1771347

But im running into this error with romdump. Apparently the ROM on the motoX doesnt use /proc/mnt/

Android ROM dumper v0.82b
(c)2011 Sebastian404
Device : 13.9.0Q2.X-178-RW-17

Creating required files... cat: can't open '/proc/mtd': No such file or directory
find: /system/: Value too large for defined data type
find: /system/: Value too large for defined data type
find: /system/: Value too large for defined data type
done.
Opening mtd table... Segmentation fault
This seems to be a glitch with ROMDUMP that requires a rebuild of the tool, per this post

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=34801657&postcount=9

I feel like you guys arent going this far and im overcomplicating things.

For locked bootloader devices, how are you guys doing ROM dumps?

The mount points are different for every phone so it won't be able to dump anything. If your trying to create a rom from the software on your phone just do a system pull. I normally extract the sbf files so I can see the symlinks. But you can use this system pull utility I created a long time ago it will pull all the files into a folder for you! https://www.dropbox.com/s/1boc1qvfq8g2acp/pull%20system.zip

But the process of getting safestrap working might be risky in and of itself, and i would prefer to have an image BEFORE we try that

You don't need a recovery to get sbf images. Those are official Motorola signed images that they got from Motorola servers, Motorola uses these to restore phones turned in on warranty. Sbf images are basically the same thing as factory images Google releases for Nexus devices.

that was me :p i just forgot to come back and post here.

Its been running flawlessly for a month or so now. I have my stock image completely unmodified, and a TON of modifications to my first slot image and am still running 100% smoothly, but with most the features of a custom rom using Xposed. Its nice to have a testbed.
