So im a n00b to the root world, and i noticed it said wipe prior to install of preview2..that just wipe cache and dalvik?

Alright Mexij00,

No i don't believe so, Format Factory/Data Reset is always the best option to use but use these steps and it will work flawlessly as well as retain your apps and their data.

1) Download Titanium Backup (for app backup if you do not have an app already)

Next, open the app and press your menu key and select "Batch"​

Under the Backup section select "Run Backup all user apps"​

2) Charge phone to 100% (you will see in the next step)
3) Enter Recovery

Install.zip (Eclipse 1.2 Preview 2)​

Wipe Data/Factory Reset​

Wipe Cache​

Wipe Dalvic Cache​

And for good measure make sure your phone is charged to 100% and wipe battery stats to avoid poor battery life after rom install​

Then Reboot​

4) Once your new rom is loaded put in your google account info so you can get yourself to the market. Redownload "Titanium Backup"

Open Titanium Backup​

Press menu key, select "Batch"​

Under Restore choose "Run, Restore missing apps with data"​

I hope this helps, if so enjoy!

P.S. since you will wipe Battery Stats be sure to fully discharge battery before you charge it again afterwards..

What do u mean can't handle your SMS? Since my original Droid I've used handcent I've never used stock it just sucks. But for me when i get duplicate its vzw.

Not handle my sms as in the amount of messages I receive, what I meant was I don't know of of any third party application that can be used to receive messages other than the stock app.

Handcent used to be my choice, but let me warn you of a very serious bug. It would send texts to other contacts instead of the one I would select. It would happen maybe once every couple hundred texts. It may not sound bad, but think of sending your boss a text meant for your friends. It made award situations. It happened for months. eventually switched to go sms and it hasn't happened once on any device since. On handcent it happened 3-4 times a month on any of my 3 devices.

That is a very bad bug. I can see that bug playing out very badly for me :android-frown:

Coming over from Liberty3 v2.0 and wow. This ROM is beautiful! Very, very smooth and from what I can tell, fantastic battery life!

A few things on this, for some reason the Power Controls are controlling everything very nicely accept my Sync. When I toggle it, either on or off, it does not change my sync setting on the phone. But if I throw a toggle widget down on the homescreen somewhere, that will control my sync. I've installed this ROM 2x I dig it so much. I just went to Kiin3TX for about an hour but wanted to come back to this. The sycn in that ROM seemed to work fine from the Power Controls. Any thoughts on this and what might be causing the issue?

Also, is there any way to theme this or are they any themes for this? I've found a few but I'm not sure if they will work with this build. I'm trying to find a nice Black and White as I love the minimal look on my phone. I still think Oreo for my DX was one of my favorite themes ever.

Other then that, all good stuff. Gonna keep running this bad boy as my DD and see where we are at!

Dude im beginning to think you are not capable of intelligent thought. Its very simple what I was trying to say. I am using the stock messaging application for sms and mms and I am unaware of any other application that can be used as an alternative for handling those messages. If you are using one that's great but I don't care. Unless it works better than the stock app, if it does let me know so I can switch to it. However if it still has the same issue as the stock app with duplicate messages then I don't want to use it. Thanks!

did exactly the same thing. No offense to that rom meant. They are all really cool peps. But Eclipse just does exactly what I want it to do.

Nitro I'm Sure can tell you exactly what he has done between "Preview 2" and "Final" but rest assured it is not and you should hold out till he gives us the links tonight
