Google Play ServicesOne week after it was announced at I/O, the latest version of Google Play Services is ready to roll out to devices worldwide. There are a few new additions in this version, including Android wearable services APIs, Making it easier to communicate and synchronize data between phones and wearable devices.

In addition to what's new, there are updates to Google Play game services, Cast, Drive, Wallet, Analytics, and Mobile Ads.

The update to game services introduces Quests APIs that allow running time-based goals for players, and rewarding them without needing to update the game. Synchronization of saved games is also included in the update, allowing game saves to be backed up online in case a player erases the data on or changes out their device.

The Google Cast SDK introduces closed caption support for Chromecast, and the Drive update gives the ability to sort query results, create folders offline, and select any mime type in the file picker by default.

The Wallet update adds a "Save to Wallet" button for loyalty cards and special offers. The Analytics update gives information on what users are looking at in apps, and where they decide to stop a purchase. The Mobile Ads update now gives access to better in-app purchase ads.
