**This process may not work on TFs with model numbers starting with B70 or above**

This hasnt been covered on this forum yet..
So ok if anyone just got/has a TF and has come to RootzWiki to help them root/unbrick it via nvflash.. I am not gonna list the step by step here because they are listed many times in clear and concise details..here are your important links:

Easy Video instructions:
http://tabletroms.com/forums/showthread.php?976-Nvflash-Unbricking-and-forever-root!

nvflash files:
http://androidroot.mobi/2011/06/13/nvflash-on-asus-transformer/

HOWEVER instead of using Prime1.4 files as given on that page, use the updated Prime! ROM files available for download here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1251044

This process will give you root, CWR, and Prime! ROM

If you want a different custom ROM after this process here is another choice:
Revolver: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1173230
Clemsyn ROM w/ kernal: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1154939
Android Revolution: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1245892

Following this process you may want to install a custom kernel (optional).

To boot into recovery: Either hold down power with your TF on and choose reboot to recovery or... with your TF off hold down power+volume down. Following this; Navigate to Install from SD card in CWR and installing the kernel file of your choice

Kernel (optimized for 3.2):
Clemsyn 3.2 Kernal: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1109630
Blades: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1226717

This process is pretty easy to follow for a n00b or experienced hacker. Any questions/comments are welcome!!

****If you don't feel the need to use a custom ROM and just want pure root please see this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1125714

Personally, I use Prime!1.9.1 and Clemsyn kernel and i am very impressed.

**All credit to Roach2010 and Clemsyn for their fine work.**

Hold down the power button and the volume down when booting. It will say something (never really read it) and then you release both buttons and press the volume up botton.

I just used quickboot to recovery mode and then pressed down and it went into CWM.

Now i'm just curious with flashing zips that i dl'd and them working or not. Also, my transformer now will not hook up with my computer, drivers not found it says.

thanks i recently got a TF and it seems the process is alot like my old tegra 2 tablet (harmony - g-tablet)

one thing i was unclear about is if the epic rom is required and what it entails?

is that how root is obtained? A rooted rom is flashed?

not sure what you mean by epic ROM..? There is no such ROM for the TF.

Root is obtained through nvflash

Doing my research before my purchase here - I've spent the past year playing with my Droid X and have SBFed a gazillion times and am no stranger to Linux. I just want to confirm, if someone who is patient wouldn't mind bearing with me for a sec :) I use Nvflash if I want to root and flash a custom ROM. (Would be doing it in Linux) From what I see, works sort of like SBFing. (chmod, run script, win) and then I will have root and can flash ROMs, kernels, etc. And custom recoveries. Just to be sure - does it matter if the TF is on 3.2 when I do all this? From what I've been reading, Nvflash will do its thing regardless of firmware, I just wanted to be clear.

This is all assuming I don't want to run stock rooted - I will want to run a custom ROM and kernel. I'll probably play around with stock for like two days and then decide I must flash something.

Thanks for the patience! Will be my first tablet, not to mention first unlocked bootloader. I'm not afraid to screw around, I just want to make sure I'm understanding what I'm reading.

thats a good comparison NvFlash is very much like SBF in the sense that it will get you out of a "bricked" state and wipe your tablet clean and install a clean ROM. Its different from SBF in that once you finish with the nvflash you will be rooted and have CWM already.

You can use nvflash on 3.2. Although Stock isnt horrible, but if you like overclocking and the ability to make backups then rooting is the way to go!

HOWEVER: if your Tf's serial number begins with B70 (and i think B80s are coming out now) then you may not be able to root your transformer at all..yet..
Heres a thread on people talking about rooting model B70: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1208339
and here's an update on the status of rooting those model numbers: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1208339

have fun!

Well...that's unfortunate. Maybe I'll get lucky and be able to find an older serial number when I go to pick it up - not being able to have root access would really disappoint me. Thanks for the tip though!
