The error message you are receiving while trying to install Minecraft on a new laptop with Windows 7 64-bit operating system suggests that the video card drivers on the laptop are not up-to-date, and thus the game is unable to find an accelerated OpenGL mode. Here are some steps you can take to try and fix the issue:
  1. First, try to update your video card drivers to the latest version. You can usually find the latest drivers on the website of the manufacturer of your video card (such as NVIDIA or AMD). Once you have downloaded and installed the latest drivers, try to install and run Minecraft again.
  2. If updating the video card drivers does not work, try to install the latest version of Java on your computer. Minecraft requires Java to run, and outdated or corrupted Java files can cause issues with the game. You can download the latest version of Java from the official Java website.
  3. Another thing to check is whether your computer meets the minimum system requirements for Minecraft. Make sure that your computer has at least 2GB of RAM, a 1 GHz CPU, and a video card with 128 MB of video RAM.
  4. Finally, you can try running Minecraft in compatibility mode for Windows 7. To do this, right-click on the Minecraft executable file and select "Properties". In the "Compatibility" tab, check the box for "Run this program in compatibility mode for:", and select "Windows 7" from the drop-down menu.
Hopefully, one of these steps will help you resolve the issue and get Minecraft up and running on your new laptop.
