The OnePlus One is still considered the unicorn of Android devices, an amazing device that competes with the flagships (if not overpowers them) but is hard as a root canal to get a hold of. Originally the company stated that the phone would be available for all in June, and you can see how that went. It looks like they were late delivering the July OTA for the device as well, but at least it's here now.

The update, dubbed 30O, has only recently started its rollout to devices and brings with it several new and very important updates. The full changelog of the update is below:



  • Upgraded to Android 4.4.4


  • Updated to new versions of Google apps


  • Added Clear Image


  • Added new (colder) calibration for the screen


  • Proximity sensor prevents activation of off-screen gestures while in your pocket


  • Capacitive touch keys supported in the recovery mode


  • Increased capacitive button illumination


  • Improved overall stability


  • Fixed issues with vibration being disabled during Quiet Hours


  • Fixed lockscreen not updating the track information during music playback


  • Fixed microphone volume for all formats in the Voice Recorder app


  • Fixed "OK, Google" not triggering voice search in Google Now


  • Fixed Viber calls not working


  • Fixed battery percent not updating in custom lock screens


  • Fixed PicasaSync


  • Fixed Camera "O" gesture activating lockscreen instead of triggering camera


  • Fixed wallpapers not applying in full screen, taking the wrong size when cropping, etc

There are several big things to look at in this changelog, first things first, the One finally gets updated to Android 4.4.4 from 4.4.2 which (among the updates that it brought itself) brings about updated Google apps. Also along for the ride are better proximity cues to make sure the phone isn't going off all the time in your pocket (I had to turn them off).

Another big feature to check out in this update is being called Clear Image. With it enabled in the camera app, you will be able to turn a series of shots into one super high-res, small-capacity image. According to OnePlus:

"Through interlacing and compression algorithms, the camera improves clarity, reduces noise in low light, and adds detail that other cameras cannot."

Plus the photo seems to not have a huge file size at the end of this editing.
