ClockworkMod Recovery
Modified for Motorola Xoom

This is a ClockworkMod Recovery based on Koush's source that has been modified to skip /data/media (Internal Storage) on the Motorola Xoom when performing nandroid backups and factory resets from within recovery.

This recovery is brought to you by Team Tiamat Xoom and the genius mind of Solarnz

Installation Instructions

Method 1: Flash through ClockworkMod Recovery

  • Download the Recovery ZIP file
  • Place the Recovery zip on the MicroSD in a location where ClockworkMod can read it
  • Reboot into recovery
  • In Recovery select flash zip from sdcard and select the recovery zip you put on the sdcard
  • Recovery will reboot into the new recovery once it has completed flashing the new recovery

Method 2: Flash recovery from fastboot

  • Download the recovery image (DO NOT USE THE RECOVERY ZIP IN FASTBOOT)
  • Open a command prompt window and change your working directory to the directory you downloaded the recovery image to then enter the following:
    Code:
    <br />
    adb reboot bootloader<br />
    fastboot flash recovery recovery-solarnz-XXXXXX-XXXX.img<br />
    fastboot reboot<br />
  • Let your Xoom reboot. To reboot into recovery use the following from a command prompt:
    Code:
    <br />
    adb reboot recovery<br />

Downloads

NOTE:
Take your time to ensure that you are using the correct version for your choosen method of installation. There are now several known cases of individuals bricking their Xoom because they have tried to flash the zip file during fastboot

CWM recovery version 4.0.0.0 is in Rom Manager and it supports the sd card and is modified for internal storage. Have any of you checked it out? I use it currently and think it works great. After taking to Koush, they'll probably change where the sd card is located again.

At this time Tiamat XOOM does not recommend migration to 4.0.0.0. Wiping from recovery on 4.0.0.0 will wipe /data completely. We have found in testing that this means it will also lead to data loss in /data/media which is where all user data is stored. A modified version of 4.0.0.0 is in the works right now. This post will be updated to reflect these changes when it is available.
