Resurrection 2.1 EH03

Guilty Parties: Sbrissen and Nitsuj17

***we are not responsible for anything that happens to your phone or if your dog runs away from home...you can blame us however if soviet troops parachute into the parking lot of a colorado high school, and you are forced into the woods where you start a small guerilla unit to avenge your family***

*First things first. This is not comrom. That was a collaboration (at least on froyo) amongst 7-10 people, and the choice was made to include many aosp instead of their touchwiz counterparts. This rom uses mainly touchwiz apps (many of which are tw4). Future plans do include a comrom clone though. TSM has branched out and its members have worked featured across several devices and rom types: aosp, touchwiz, sense, blur, et all.

**You will not find any claims that is the greatest rom ever, what you will find is a highly optimized and modded rom, different than anything else available on the i500
**

FAQ
(will be updated as questions/issues arise as well)

Q: Who/What is TSM/TeamSbrissenMod
A: Short version: a few of from xda/irc who work on projects together and generally just hang out in irc a lot
A: Longer version: we started it as a joke (see the early @teamsbrissenmod tweets for an idea), but then bendbowden started making vanilla aosp mods and releasing under the TSM banner. In the lull between ec10 for the mez and EC01/ED01 Adrynalyne asked if a few of us wanted to team up for the next version of whatever rom he did post-superclean and TSM went from there. Its named after sbrissen, because hes ridiculously smart and talented...and deserves all the kudos you can give him.

Q: Ok who exactly is in TSM?
A: In no particular order: chopperthedog, andmer, times_infinity, me, sbrissen, imnuts, retrokidd223, mastamoon, madoggin, and navenedrob, bendbowden (both no longer active)

Q: Is TSM parts included?
A: Yes, it is now
(sbrissen freaking rocks!)

Q: Are there any custom kernels or voodoo out for EH09/EI20
A: Yes Imoseyen and Comradesven have voodoo source kernels out, and djp has source kernels in his geewhiz thread.

Q: I don't like how you themed the rom..why not leave it stock???
A: Frankly you can't please everyone. I themed it the way I liked it, and felt a change of pace from stock gingerbread look was needed.

Q: How do I change apps in the tw4 dock?
A:
1. Open the app drawer
2. click the soft menu key
3. click view type
4. select customizable grid
5. select edit from menu
6. you can now drag and drop the apps you want right into the dock, or reogranize the app drawer or make folders, add pages to the app drawer
7. when done editing, click soft menu key
8. select save
9. you are gtg

Q: Is EH03 a leak or an ota?:
A: It was previously leaked, but on 12/1/11 it did ota

Q: Can you put adblocking into the rom?
A: Ad block does interfere with a limited # of apps/games, and many people want it undone immediately. Download adfree from the android market and run that to remove apps.

Q: What is the recommended radio?
A: Thats subjective to each phone/location. I have found the EH03 radio works a tad better than ec09 for me, others are the opposite. Some still prefer eb01. When going to a new radio however, I recommend doing a *228 to update your prl...seems to help :shrugs:

Q: How is performance relative to MTD/other touchwiz?
A: Let's face it, MTD is faster...I don't think anyone would debate that. If you are using touchwiz instead of MTD, I would assume you have a reason other than performance though. But compared to eh09 and ei20 I think there is a noticable bump in real world performance, benchmarks aside...and the semi-annoying random screen on moments from ei20 aren't present.

Q: Can you give me a more specific rundown of eh09/ei20/eh03?
A: alright
Eh09: 2.3.4, officially for the uscc mesmerize, cs showcase, and some of the other regional variants, kernel source is out, benchmarks (ugh) 950-1100 quadrant on stock rfs kernel, native google search/apps, power control extra toggle is sound/vibrate not mobile data
ei20: 2.3.5, officially out for uscc mes now (i think) and acg and a few other carriers, kernel source is out, benchmarks about same as eh09, native google search/apps, random screen on moments happen occasionally, power control extra toggle is sound/vibrate not mobile data
eh03: 2.3.5, official verizon rom that was leaked before eventually being an ota, kernel source is now out and being integrated into custom kernel, but eh09/ei20 kernels are compatible, save for the fact they break adb logcat (there is a fix now though), reported benchmarks stock are anywhere from 1450-1700 stock rfs on quadrant, native bing search/apps but not as instrusive as in eclair/froyo, better real world performance than the other 2 imo, power control extra toggle is mobile data, not sound/vibrate

Q: Are you going to make any themes for this?
A: Aside from the mild tw4 icons and and images I put in this rom to clean it up a bit, no. I do still enjoy theming (you may recall I used to put out dozens of themes before getting into roms) but to maintain a rom AND themes for that rom is tough. I tried it on the inc2 but got to be too much, so aside from the theme in the rom, I will not do independent themes.

Q: Why are there no gapps in the rom?
A: To keep the rom up to date as possible, I removed them and made them a patch. After flashing the rom, reboot to recovery and flash that package...or just download what you want from the market

Known Issues
*first time u apply power control widget (not pulldown controls, android widget) it ll be blank...set it and reboot and ur fine

To Do:
*bugfixes

Instructions

Installing TSM Resurrection
1. Must be on TWGB already already (can flash over superclean/gee whiz/power washed with a data/wipe)
2. download rom and (optional) GAPP Package
3. move to your sdcard
4. boot into cwr
5. wipe cache/davlik cache (id say wipe data, but honestly most don't...it is a best practice though)
6. select install from sdcard
7. select rom .zip
8. reboot
9. wait 5+ minutes for phone to boot up (it takes awhile)
(continue on only if using gapp package)
10. Reboot to recovery after rom loads
11. Flash Gapp package
12. Reboot

For those coming from MTD Roms Follow Skynet11's Instructions Here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=17816257&postcount=23

Also, great article on why wiping anything in cwr (data/cache/davlik) more than once is pointless: http://cvpcs.org/blog/2011-06-05/time_to_wipe_data/cache

(I would go further to say dont flash shit from people who tell you to wipe data 3X Times...but im a jerk)

***ADB!!!!

for those that don't have the Android SDK installed (or know what it is) Adrynalyne made an awesome tutorial <--- check it out!

For Reporting Issues:
(If you Do Not follow these instruction exactly, we will ignore your pleas for help!)

1) post your exact setup
2) did you wipe data/cache/davlik cache before flashing the rom
3) what rom/setup did you flash over
4) what is your *specific* problem...not "omgz ma shitz be bo messed yo"...that helps no one and frankly is annoying to see...
5) ive said this 500 times already, but hey whats once more? POST AN ADB LOGCAT OF YOUR YOUR BOOTLOOP/FORCE CLOSE PROBLEMS/ETC...it aint hard

cd your adb folder

then

Code:
adb logcat > logcat.txt
-this creates a text file in your adb folder in the sdk (tools or platform-tools, w/e) post it in a pastebin and link the pastebin here or post it from dropbox or something

for the less sdk literate folks (and really im tempted to say if you dont have adb, dont flash stuff...but umm...i wont)

you can use terminal emulator on your phone to logcat (obviously not when booting to diagnose bootloops, but can help with force closes)

Code:
logcat > /sdcard/logfile.txt
-this creates a file on your sdcard...copy it to your computer and pastebin/dropbox it

****Notes on Kanging****
-You must have permission to use tsm parts, mods, roms, themes etc before using it for your own rom etc. You must talk to us before doing so, and confirming what can be used, and when. Just because you have used our stuff before doesn't give you blanket permission to use what you want. This isn't aosp, so we don't have to let you use anything

How to flash TSM Resurrection if you're on an MTD ROM (CM7, MIUI, TSM Pool Party, Vanilla GB, Biffmod)
***As Nitsuj17 already said, you must already be on EH09/EI20 to flash TSM Resurrection, this method uses EH09 PowerWashed ROM from ccampos784 or EI20 GeeWiz from djp952 as your EH09/EI20 starting point. This also installs EC09 as your modem, since there is no EH09 or EI20 modem for the Fascinate yet***

Credits:

Nitsuj17 and the rest of TeamSbrissenMod (see all of their work at www.teamsbrissenmod.net)
kidserious (I kanged his instructions for going back to TouchWiz from MTD)
ccampos784 (he built PowerWashed EH09 ROM, plus I kanged some of his installation instructions)
djp952 (he built the GeeWiz EI20 ROM)
Times_Infinity (he posted the Clockwork Recovery you will need to flash)

Instructions (Using PowerWashed as your EH09/EI20 starting point):

1. Make a nandroid backup

2. Download TSM Resurrection file to your SD card: http://www.multiupload.com/DEFT2LI9TM

3. Download these files to your PC:
- Odin 1.3 (if you don't already have it): http://www.mediafire.com/?73ta726ghelw381,
- ED05 stock, bloated, unrooted): http://www.multiupload.com/DIFBWSD7L5,
- atlas_v2.2.pit): http://www.mediafire.com/?nxt46xmeu7d4pe8,
- EH09/EI20 ROM (PowerWashed): http://www.mediafire.com/?c37loxth85zn2ti,
- 7zip from this site: http://www.7-zip.org/
- Clockwork Recovery: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?eda9voucgo0s46l

4. Boot phone in download mode by powering phone off, hold down vol button on phone, connect cable to PC (there is no need to remove battery)

5. Open Odin, place ED05 file in PDA slot, atlas_v2.2.pit in PIT, and check "Re-Partition," and click Start

6. Your phone should now boot to stock ED05 Froyo in all its (ugh) bloated glory

7. Install 7zip, use it to extract the EH09 PowerWashed ROM file (the file name ispowerwashed_20_b3_Full_ec09modem.tar.md5) on PC, then reboot phone in download mode

8. Use Odin to flash EH09 PowerWashed ROM to your phone (use PDA slot, DO NOT USE PIT SLOT OR CLICK "RE-PARTITION" AGAIN since you already re-partitioned your phone in Step 4, and keep the battery IN the phone)

9. After rebooting, power phone off again, reboot in download mode again, and use Odin to flash Clockwork Recovery. Your phone should then reboot into Clockwork Recovery

10. Congratulations! You're now ready to flash TSM Resurrection! Flash in Clockwork Recovery

Profit

Switched to this from cm7 due to various bugs. This is running great so far with imo's kernel and ec09 radio. Thank you nitsuj for your hard work!

Thats awesome, I want to try it but ill probably wait until the Version including TSM parts comes out because I'm tired of wiping data and having to re-download all my apps after an update.Or....

Can you usually just flash an update of a ROM over the previous version?

Either I want to switch from Pool Party because I love it, but the random reboots are getting to be irritating....

Change your lock screen to Rotary Revamped. Haven't had a random reboot in days upon days.

Hey guys, thanks for this ROM! I was getting so sick of the glitchiness of CM7/Vanilla GB (phantom ringing when i pick up calls, losing data connections randomly, etc.) that it was nice to see a TW-based ROM (as crazy as that seems).

The only issue I've seen so far is WiFi not working. I was able to get it working once when I was on the phone with someone and my 3G data connection was auto-disabled. I've tried to use WiFi by disabling 3G data or by having an active call with my voicemail but it still doesn't work. It connects, but nothing loads via Market, internet apps, and web browsers.

Per the instructions in the first post, here is my info:
1) TSM Resurrection 0.1 stock
2) Yes, wiped data/cache/dalvik before flashing
3) Vanilla GB v6, but followed instructions of flashing stock EH09 and repartitioning with atlas and whatnot..
4) Can't access the internet when connected to WiFi. WiFi connects but no data gets through.
5) n/a

EDIT: not related to the ROM, but the CWM included in the instructions doesn't do backups. "Error while backing up boot image."

EDIT 2: Did a fresh install of this ROM without migrating any of my data. WiFi works normally in this case, but whenever I restore my data (via Clockwork), 3G data isn't disabled when WiFi is enabled. Even if I manually disable 3G data, I get no data when WiFi is connected.

Stock EH09 comes with the wrong modem. You must Odin EC09 modem or ED05 to get data/WiFi working correctly

I've had EC09 on it. As I said in my 2nd edit, WiFi works when it's freshly installed, i.e. before I restore my apps/data. I think the issue is some sort of config data related to WiFi or the modem which came from my restored files. This restored data was backed up when I was using JT's VGB 0.6. Obviously there must have been some incompatibility. I never found the specific data in question; however, recently I did a fresh install of this and restored only my apps (not my user/system data except for my SMS/MMS database). Now WiFi works properly.

Pretty much to be expected when restoring data between to completely different rom types. Kinda why they say to wipe data.

^^^ what he said - restoring should be limited to your apps via Titanium Backup when migrating between AOSP and TouchWiz - restoring system data can really tear your phone up.

yeah, I thought an advanced nandroid restore of just Data would only bring back user app data and databases.
