ApeX 2.0 for Droid X Gingerbread (.605 OTA) has finally reached the Release Candidate landmark! As always, the goals of the ROM are speed, stability, reliability, and simplicity of use. I feel that this version lives up to those goals admirably! Take it for a test yourself and see if you agree!

[HR][/HR]
Requirements
  • You must be on .602/.605 rooted or a .602/.605 based ROM
  • Kernel must be 2.6.32.9-g34b306d
    [email protected] #2
  • Baseband must be BP_C_01.09.13P

If you're on a .340 based ROM, read instructions below on how to use AIO to jump straight to ApeX

Things to know
  • Market apps are removed (Gmail, Maps, Voice Search, etc). Remember to re-enable Gmail sync in your account settings after downloading it.
  • Preset, Yahoo, Email, Motorola, and Corporate Sync in add accounts don't do anything.
  • Sync Facebook contacts using the official app
  • If you need to activate your phone, hold down the menu button at the activation screen to bring up the keyboard.
[HR][/HR]
BUGS
  • Cannot add dialer or contacts to hotseat in new Launcher 2. Keep dialer in the default position for now, sorry!
[HR][/HR]
Installation Instructions
  1. Meet all the requirements listed at the top of the post
  2. Wipe data/cache, dalvik cache (only wipe cache and dalvik if coming from RC3)
  3. Flash Apex

For .340 (Froyo) users, download the Apex AIO file below. In recovery, format system, data, and cache. Then MOUNT SYSTEM, and install Apex AIO. You will be on .602 with new kernel, baseband, and of course, Apex. FAILURE TO FOLLOW DIRECTIONS WILL RESULT IN BRICK REQUIRING SBF.

Market Fix (no longer necessary after RC4) - For 'an error has occured' when purchasing apps

Dark Market 3.1.3 -- by B-boy

Flash this in recovery.

Standalone Super Launcher 2 from Apex 2.0 RC3

http://bit.ly/rcaqxv -- install as you would any apk

Installable Blur Applications

Instructions - These apps are installable like any non-market application. This means you need to go into Settings, Applications, and make sure 'Unknown sources' is checked.

Download the desired file(s) to your sdcard, then use the file manager to click and install it. Some apps require additional steps, which will be detailed below.

Installable Blur Applications for Apex 2.0

Additional Steps for Keyboards (Multitouch, Swype)

-After installing either/both of these keyboards, go into Settings, Language & keyboard, and enable the downloaded keyboard(s). Then, tap and hold a text entry field, and select 'Input method' and select desired keyboard.

Additional Steps for Blur Home

-Blur Home will not work without removing Launcher2. Pay attention to these steps as failure to follow them can result in a missing launcher. After installing the Blur Home apk, fire up the Terminal Emulator and type the following:

Code:
su
sys -rw
mv /system/app/Launcher2.apk /system/app/Launcher2.bak
Hit home, wait a few seconds, and the Blur launcher will come up.

Can't wait to try it out. Both of the test seemed great so I would bet this one is too. Thanks for all your hard work!
Thank you Fab!! Beer money coming your way!!
This is a great ROM! Fastest launcher2 ever made!
Good speed, poor design (unless the themes will be released I guess).
I've found an issue - many apps from market don't want to download and install. It shows the endless loading window. If I clear market data and cache from app manager, it helps, but after installing of several apps, I should clear data again.
Hey fab u had been great developers of all.....i installed ur rc3 the day it was available on the forums.....since then i installed it 3 times but everytime something tell me to go back on shuji until.fab fix the issue....whenever i try to call n hit the call button the screen went to dialing mode n after a seconfld call disconnect dialers pop up and signal bars vanish for a second like u can see stop sign instead of bars.....thts the issue keeping me from rc3 i really wanna try this its fast incredible speed really surprised with ur hard work evrytime u come up with great things......will be tracking ur posts and threads on the internet....
Did you wipe data and cache when installing? Didn't restore any system data using Titanium, did you?

Anybody else having dialer issues?

ok thankyou lemme check it i will install it rite now and will let u knw
Dialer works fine. No market issues since the last post (several apps were install successfuly without data clean). Rom seems to be very stable, we'll see on battery life statistics.
n one more thing will appreciate for that can u plzzz give a file for older version of market cuz i really dont like the new version the older version is way better n faster in intalling apps...

I know I saw a thread somewhere about how to revert back to the old market. It wasn't in the DroidX forum, though. Maybe in the General forum?
i knw u have to unistall updates but in custom roms the apk is installed as default so the update apk is installed as default u can only remove it through toolbox or some other software i dont know in apex i didnt checked it yet
Thanks for the awesome experience, best download by Wi-Fi and followed instructions, equals and equally great Rom.keep up the brilliant work!
I have to admit that Apex is the ROM I used during Froyo time. Anyone have any bluetooth, and gps issues? How is the battery? One of the best reasons for Apex is Fabs way to make the battery last all day.

Thanks.
