[ROM] Razor's Jelly V2.6 [Verizon][Jelly Bean 4.1] 8-July

81835 Views 378 Replies 125 Participants Last post by  diverbelow
This rom was ported from a gsm galaxy nexus running jelly bean. It includes only those fixes required to work as intended. There are no altered themes, no tweak scripts, no replaced kernels, just the stock experience Google intended.

Thanks to b16 for providing the nandroid off his GSM Galaxy Nexus for all of us to use.

Note: This is the same rom I've been working on for the past few days that I had posted in AshG's thread over here. Just decided to create my own thread for it here.

Change Log:

Version 2.6
  • fixed hdmi
  • fixed verizon apps not working
  • fixed gps (discovered that gsm vendor lib files were being used. replaced with cdma)
  • updated all google apps to most current
  • updated Superuser app and su binary
Version 2.5
  • updated market app to 3.7.13
  • updated maps app to 6.9.0
  • reverted kernel to completely stock version
  • several minor fixes
Version 2
  • MMS fix (The mms apk was not configured properly for verizon due to the jelly bean rom coming from a GSM phone. It was causing pictures to be overly compressed and look like crap. Also, videos received via mms would not play).
  • Fixed bluetooth range and quality.
Version 1
  • WiFi fix
  • slow GPS lock fix
  • moved misplaced lib files
  • fixed no ringtone or notification sound by default
  • fixed updater script to actually format system
  • fixed ERI text to say Verizon Wireless
Installation:
  1. Boot into Recovery
  2. Wipe Data / Factory Reset (if coming from previous version you should be fine with a wipe cache and dalvik-cache)
  3. Install .zip
  4. Reboot
  5. Enjoy
IMPORTANT NOTE: Jelly Bean roms on the Verizon Galaxy Nexus are experiencing a random boot issues where you get stuck on the Google boot logo. If this happens to you just wait. After a few minutes it will boot up fine. This can take anywhere from 3 minutes to 10 minutes.

Ended up just flashing this ROM. I'd rather have something with an active dev anyways. Seems like it's working perfectly.
Good choice, I just hung up the "Shutting Down Soon" sign on the other thread and diverted everyone here.

but yet here we all are flashing new versions of ROMs multiple times per week because devs are improving and fixing mistakes. development is just that, "development". whether it be kernels or ROMs there will always be something newer and/or better to flash tomorrow. /fact
well, that's an assumption. not everyone is a crack addict flasher lol. I flash every once in awhile. I tend to keep stock, as it's most stable with best battery life. Yeah, all the excitement is 'over there,' but from my own personal testing from DroidX to now, stock is best for me.

as for GPS issues, I had issue with GPS locking, but after 2 days with this device, it looks as though I have no issues with GPS locking.

I have 0 issues on this leaked JB GSM port on VZW CDMA. (FYI all JB ROMS right now originally came from the same source, a GSM version of JB)

Thanks GOOG! Thanks jdk!

If I came from V2 from the original thread, can i flash 2.5 without wiping?

I'd wipe just in case. Even with incremental upgrades. Weeds out any potential issues. One thing I am making more of a habit is using Titanium Backup to save all user data/apps. That way I just do a one click and everything is restored no problems. (One click works for only the paid version, iirc)

Go to CWM Recovery (Hold down power and Vol +/- at same time). Press Vol+ twice and hit power button to go to 'Recovery'

- Wipe data/factory reset

- go to mount - format system

- wipe davlik cache

- wipe battery stats

- Install ZIP from sdcard.

This is v2.5 of that exact ROM. Should be fine. I actually flashed it from Vicious V1 and it's working perfectly. Just wipe Cache and Dalvik-cache to be careful. No data loss.
Thanks for helping us out with an early stock Jelly Bean.. Seems to be working really well so far for me.

Thanks man, love only having to flash 1 rom with all fixes in it, BUT I came from JellyBelly rom, and he fixed the booting issue.. That was nice not having to worry about booting. So is there a way I could mod mine to fix boot?

I'm getting a different MD5. Is this a 2.0 -> 2.5 update issue? (forgot to update the md5?)

I'm getting e972d3d223e3f489a2534b342caa3a8a
i sure did. thanks for catching that.

And thanks to everyone's compliments. I put a lot of time into this, so I'm glad all of you are enjoying it.

Just wiped VanirBean and flashed this. No issues with long boot times at all. Not even after a cold boot. Actually very fast boot times. Great job!

In the earlier version, gallery was 'black' but long press brought up a picture and in camera mode the last picture taken was visible in camera viewfinder (what a cool feature to be able to compare last taken picture with what is seen in viewfinder). Latest version both the gallery and viewfinder pic is black, but once moved or pressed the picture shows........anyone else having this issue/s with gallery and or camera Thanks

that wass a problem on jdkoreclipse's vanirbean too. the gallery wouldn't display downloaded or camera pictures just a blank black box, but it would show picasa photos without any problems.
The only issue with this rom was bad battery life...but after i flashed popcorn kernel...it went back to amazing! thanks for the great rom and keep it stock

Just wanted to chime in and say I've been using this sine "the other thread" so I will be following developments over here now.

Just about to flash 2.5.

Thanks for all the work. I hope you keep it stock.
