could any one here upload a copy of the recovery for ICS, as i lost my backup and currently have a bad image flashed to it. the command down below executed form adb shell or term emulator will make a file called recovery.img on your sdcard.

Code:
<br />
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p18 of=/sdcard/recovery.img<br />
edit
its ok now i got it to reupdate
Good that you got it to reupdate. However I have another question. if /dev/block/mmcblk0p18 is the recovery partition of the element, what do you think the chances are of the original posts' CWM working with ICS and the chances of dd working to write the recovery? Pantech seems to have hobbled the element's fastboot, so I don't know if they did the same to dd

Try to uninstall superuser, both from data and from system using titanium backup, reboot your tablet and install it from the play store. Don't worry the su is still on your system, so deleting superuser is not gonna take root from your tablet. After installing Superuser, use it for update the su executable. Don't forget to check the superuser settings to see if you granted automatic roots rights to the applications without notifying you.

Titanium does not detect superuser apk (I think it is normal because it also does not show up when using titanium on all of my other android devices) anyway...removed superuser manually and thru settings after removing data... and installed from market again and again and again, even tried the other superuser app from the market, and no way, it never asks for permission... I really think my issue has to do with the su binary I uploaded to the tablet during the rooting process... can anyone provide a su binary?

Quick question, I'm hoping someone will point me in the right directions. My element has already been updated to ICS from the download on PanTech website, I am following the directions and am getting the following message when trying to root.

fastboot flash recovery cwm-5.0.2.7-pororo.img
sending 'recovery' (5784 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.406s]
writing 'recovery'...
FAILED (remote: Not Support !!)
finished. total time 0.414s

Any help would be greatly appreciated, is this possibly because I upgraded to ICS first?

The old way of rooting doesn't work anymore. Read a couple of posts above yours for the new way.
Mine was described in post # 136

You will need the files from "Superuser-3.0.7-efghi-signed.zip" in the original post for the file "su" and maybe "Superuser.apk", although you can use other Superuser apps too. You'll also need busybox.

I have done all the steps in the instructions on pastebin (./HyEyzHJw)

Everything seems to work but the device isn't rooted. Remounting as read-write works; root hash prompt appears, and the following commands appear to succeed

Using 'adb shell' and then 'su' after the last reboot produces this result:

su: unknown id: root
1|[email protected]:/ $

I did have to use `mkdir /data/busybox' because I was getting an error for each of the files in busybox at the install command on line 44. Error was like the one in post #7 on this page: [droidforums dot net/forum/droid-hacks/14995-adb-not-found-busybox-install-help.html]. Also, the remount doesn't work as written in pastebin, but /system is already mounted rw according to mount, so the dd command that follows works anyway.

I've tried this with two different versions of Superuser.apk and su, and with two versions of busybox.

[edit for info]
Device is running Android 4.0.4 with baseband JWUS09102012. Kernel version is 3.0.8-perf / [email protected] #1 // SMP PREEMPT Mon Sep 3 18:59:31 KST 2012 // Build number IMM76I .

after all driver installed and device updating to the latest ics release, u can use ics_root_unlocker to root it, no more cmw, busybox needed. 4 more details, pls google ics_root_unlocker, but there is a tricky, dont press any key unless ur device boot again even u r request to do so by following screen instruction! that means u have to wait for power on again then issue another "press any key to ...." command. very easy, simple and hassle free, enjoy it.

Root pantech P4100 easy
http://www.general-f...ry_v17.zip.html

update SU and your good to go now we need CWM and some roms

This root tool worked for me and it was the fastest and easy to use.
I've rooted my element. And now trying to flash google now on ics. However, without working cwm, i don't seem to be able to flash google now. Any other recovery suggestions? Most of google now zip files require cwm recovery though.
