Root method?

A friend of mine wants me update his Captivate to the Official 2.2 and root it for him. Will this Rootzwiki root method work to manually root on the Official update?

I'm actually not sure about that... I've never installed the UCKB1 stock 2.2. I do know that it comes with 3e recovery and it's more difficult to root because of that. I looked into it a bit, and SuperOneClick will root a stock 2.2 Captivate, or so it says. It does sound more simple than the RootzWiki version. Let me know if it works!

Guess I'll do some more digging around. I prefer to root manuall (makes me feel like I did something productive). If I cannot find out a sure fire ADB method I will try this and let you know.
I helped my friend root his Captivate withe SuperOneClick and it worked like a charm. Just follow the instructions on the page and you'll be fine.
The method on the wiki should work, we try to keep it updated as much as possible. Thanks for looking though
Use SuperOne Click. Works like a charm and can even enable 3rd Party install.
