does the sim card control both 4g & 3g? my download speeds are decent but when on 4g i often loose data or 4g becomes unresponsive until i reboot or restart the connection. this happens on all the radios. could it be a bad sim or perhaps the 4g in my area is not reliable?

The SIM provides network authentication for the MDM9600, the combo LTE/CDMA data modem. my sim card failed, I only had 1x until Verizon replace mine with a new one. I had to unroot and put back to stock than I went to the Verizon store.
