I'm thinking of switching my carrier from Verizon to something else. I have unlimited data with Verizon now so its my main reason to stay (this to shall pass). My main reason to change carriers is for devices. I noticed AT&T and T-Mobile get better phones all the time compared to Verizon's line up. So my main question is this, "Is a carrier switch worth it simply for a better device?" If so is AT&T my best choice or should I still consider T-Mobile?

Please try not to carrier bash in this thread. This is not what its for nor is it my goal. Thanks!

PS - I have an iPhone because it was cheaper to repair than my Thunderbolt at the time... worst mistake I ever made!

I'm almost in the same boat with you. Just posted a similar thread elsewhere. I can't for the life of me figure out why VZ thinks the key to keeping customers is raising prices and not offering top tier phones. I don't need 50 devices to choose from, just give me a few of the best. No quality Sonys, no top HTCs, locked bootloader on the SIII, and no worthwhile sliders. They are screwing themselves.

My experiences with T-Mobile have been very good, my experiences with AT&T have been horrible.

You'll hate AT&T the first time you call customer service and get the standard response, "Why not call someone who gives a damn, we certainly don't!"

FWIW, my son wangled a discount with AT&T, now our calls drop any time he's in his car. Never had a drop with VZW.

NOTE on T-Mobile, their coverage isn't as good as VZW or even AT&T but their WiFi calling *almost* makes up for it.

AT&T seems to still allow people to choose the old plans (minutes and data). When I switch in a couple of months I'll get the 3 GB plan.

well I switched from sprint to ATT for the better phones and internet speed. ATT has great coverage and good phones and they will even give you the unlock code for free without hassle. I really haven't had any problems with them. Now I I was switching to day I might go to tmobile since the service has improved and unlimited data is back.
