Ok. I have done cm7.0, virtuous 1.31 (really liked), virtuous 2.39, coredroid (one of the best sense 3.0 rom) , synergy, and finally cm7.1 which is my new favorite.

I found most important wipe everything before install and be careful of titanium if you are loading system data on a different rom.

And, just get use to rom manager clockworkmod and your wife thinking that you are an idiot and if you don't understand the phone send it back.
LOL. Have fun and good luck.

Not to be mean because you should feel free to ask questions but just make sure google can't answer them faster and better than me. There are tons of walk throughs and info waiting for your search. If you can't find it like that pm me.

I was at a meeting and I did not mean to be cryptic. I love titanium but if you try a recovery into a different rom you may have problems. I use titanium all the time to save and manipulate data. Now, before trying a new rom, I will do a backup in rom manager. It keeps all the settings, apps, and data.
I started doing data and cache wipes after locking up my phone with cm7.03. I found that I had less problems. It is the dalviche (sic) cache, the data and system.caches in clockwork recovery. Then I would load my zip of the rom. Of course. You have to have downloaded the rom of choice.
I am definitely a newbie. I just made a lot of mistakes and have loaded Roms about 10 times or more. I just want people not to have to thru all that. I think there are many good roms to choose.
Look at the xda forums and other good sites.

Sounds like what happened to me. Have you loaded the google zip? You can get it in rom manager. Once you start sync with Google, just let it restore most of your apps. But, some you'll need to reinstall from the market which includes titanium. You can see your Market apps from market menu.

There are a lot of menus in cm but the most important is your Google account to get your apps and such then in cm settings / phone you will need to enter your cm # and your phone number. I suggest getting something like root explorer to look at things in your phone. If you want to use an app killer just don't use it to close things like adwlauncher.
If you have problems, you can always re-do the install. I installed cm then used titanium to do a full restore and crashed. Titanium is more for restoring within the same rom. So, I just did it again. Like I said, I made a lot ofmistakes but I have not had a crash for 3 days.
Good luck!

I run MIUI pretty much full time. But I've been through CM7, Rummy, Virtuous, and RCMiX.

As far as the Inspire/Desire HD thing goes, the Desire HD is the Inspire in Europe, just with different audio hardware (which is why we need the 'tinny' audio fix) and different bands in the comm chip. Can't help much with getting CM to run properly since that was the first ROM I flashed (back in May, can you believe it?) and haven't done much in it since then.

Good luck with it all though!

Congrats! Have some fun with it. I have decided yo use a rom more than 2 days before switching although I have MIUI in mind. Oh, I have been saving the backups in a folder on my laptop so I can go back.
Try the performance tweaks. Pretty cool on cm
