wingray touch recovery on stingray?

Has anyone tried flashing the ClockworkMod touch recovery for the WiFi Xoom on the 3G/4G Xoom? I flashed a wingray ROM on my stingray to avoid the battery drain I was getting due to me not having cell service on my device, so I'm wondering if a custom recovery would work like that too.
