I wouldn't expect Nexus devices to go to CDMA networks (yes I know sprint has NS4G). Much less the most controlling carrier. You want to see a problem?

That's 2 DX's I'm refusing to accept on the bottom & a Dinc with a broken camera I'm about to box up.

you hear about at&t getting the nexus s tho? unacceptable
Yeah I saw that while I was eating lunch & I tweeted my rant. Verizon phone choices are some sorry shit right now in comparison to the other big 3. Seems like all they care about are Moto's which makes sense seeing as Moto doesn't like to update & Verizon doesn't either.

My Dinc's camera somehow got borked. When I called for a replacement they said the only thing they had comparable was DXes which I don't have time for that headache. So long story short I told them if I open the box & it's a DX I would just send it back until I got an HTC (or whatever is unlockable I have no bias past bootloader).
They must have thought I was kidding because they sent me 2 in a row then they found a refurbished Dinc.

That's my opinion of

When half of their phone line up are Motos & I don't want one for obvious reasons to us but isn't really an excuse to them.
Also after the first one they offered a D2G & DX2. : (.....
so sad. the DX is the best phone on VZW till the Bionic appears. and for updating MOTO is one of the fastest since there skin isn't bloated like HTC

Depends on what you want to do with your set.
About updates it depends on which Moto you get. The only Motos I've seen with halfway decent official support are D1 & DX. Everything else seems to be forgotten after 0 to 1 updates: R2D2, D2, D2G, DPro come to mind & that's just Motos on Verizon. Sometimes it's Verizon pissing in the water though. Like when they gimped D1's 2.2 update so they could say DX was the only capable of wireless tether or withholding the Dinc1's 2.3 so they have a selling point with Dinc2. If you look at who has the best upgrade history across all devices & carriers HTC takes that crown handily.

How is the DX better than the TBolt, exactly (other than hdmi, there is that)? And you really are trying to say that Motoblur isn't bloated? Really?? (p.s. I had aDX for a year prior to getting a Tbolt)

Wow, a statement has never been more wrong. The X is without question, the WORST phone on VZ. Super slow performamce, super buggy UI, fugly design and last but def not least, the crap bootloader. If ins tried to replace my incredible with that gArbage, id send it back too.

Hmm, I'd have to disagree with this statement too. The X is a very good phone. Crap software from VZW/Moto, but a very good phone. I wouldn't call it better than my TBolt but I simply could not allow somebody to call it "the worst" without standing up for it.

That said, I totally get how people wouldn't want an X to replace their DInc. Totally get it. :)

Back on topic, however (and yeah, I took it off twice now - bad me!):
At this point I don't care so much about the Nexus S. Now the Nexus Next (whatever it's going to be called), THAT I really do care about. I hope that I can replace my TBolt with it, but it MUST come to VZW. :)
I wouldn't get my hopes up about the Nexus Prime. :/
why are people complaining about the bloatware? everywhere is rooted, lets be smart and just uninstall/freeze it. now that bloatware is no longer in question, the DX has taken a big jump in the past month with CM7 and MIUI with OMFGB on the way. i dont have a tbolt, never used one, but from what i know it has horrible battery on LTE and doesnt have MIUI or close to 100% CM7. the tbolt isnt a much better device (if at all) for coming out some 8ish months after the DX. thats just my opinion. do wish the DX had LTE though =/

This is pretty much my opinion as well. The X is my first Android phone, and I highly doubt I'll upgrade to anything else for at least two or three years. The phone didn't feel lightning fast before I was rooted and all bloatware and Blur removed, but it got the job done. When I went to an AOSP ROM, it was a night and day difference. MIUI coming to the DX was the icing on the cake for me.

Like poontab said, it really depends on what you want to do with your set. Some people may dislike the Droid X, while others love it. The same can go for any other phone out there.

I don't really have any issues with VZW though. The Nexus looks like a cool phone and all, but I find VZW's product line to be adequate. Then again, I'm not really a die hard Android person. ;) I like it, but I'm not what one would call an extremely advanced user. I like simple, fast, and functional.

The Thunderbolt battery its no longer as bad as it was. It's still no DX battery but I get all day on 4g as long as I'm not using it heavily, which is what I expect/want from it.

I kinda wish I still had my DX to play with, but I'm quite happy with data speeds 10x faster too and an unlocked bootloader. :)

I have a dx and IF I had not rooted it I would have not still have it.
After rooting it wasnt that bad of a phone tho so rooting/and custom rom forsure helped it.
I also have an incredible and it has been great rooted or not . I did not have to root/custom rom the incredible but I did just cuz I could haha.
Back on topic tho
But vzw does need to get back on track and bring some top end phones back . All the other carriers seem to be getting the best android phones since vzw got the iphone maybe that was at&t's plan
Reading this thread made me lol. So glad we are getting a Nexus!
Nice topic, took a bit of time to read through it to see what the complaints were.

I do like my Droid X, its my first Android phone as well. I'm locked in a contract for a couple years, so I won't be able to upgrade until 2013 it looks. I got my DX like a week before the DX2 was released. I could have traded it in within that two week period, but I didn't know about it at the time.

I've used Motoblur a little, didn't like it, the bloatware was killing me until I started researching about rooting, learning how its done, then SBF, custom ROMs... all the way to where I'm at now. DX has been a great dev phone and it is a saving point for it, despite a single core processor and 512 MB of RAM. Custom ROMs blow the stock firmware away if you ask me.

Other than that, I don't have any real gripes with Verizon so far. I still prefer Motorola phones compared to Samsung or something currently, and with HTC's battery life on some of their phones being the crap that they are and requiring a backup battery just to continue to function is not my idea when having a phone. I take my friends HTC EVO 4G as an example, considering he'll go through his battery in 5-8 hours before he has to replace it with the backup, and that's from moderate use I believe. I also had a little play with the HTC Sense, but I didn't like it all that much, more so compared to Blur or something.. so I don't see myself getting an HTC phone anytime soon.
